About the Role
We’re Sonesta International Hotels, the 8th largest hotel company in the U.S.—and growing fast. The Night Auditor (NA) is responsible for accurately balancing all hotel income and expenses for every 24-hour hotel operating period. The NA also acts as a Guest Service Agent for the overnight front desk shift at the hotel and serves as the hotel system liaison during night hours, handling system issues and opening support tickets as needed.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Sonesta Service in all guest and client interactions according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
- Balance and audit room revenue, food and beverage revenue, telephone revenue, room tax charges, cashier reports, and guest house accounts for accuracy.
- Prepare and transmit daily management and accounting reports, including General Manager daily, weekly, and month-end reporting packs.
- Assist in setting up complimentary breakfast service, including food, beverage stations, and supplies.
- Assist in washing, drying, and folding hotel laundry.
- Act as the security point of contact during the shift.
- Register guests, issue room keys, and provide information on hotel services, room location, and the Travel Pass rewards program.
- Answer phones promptly and courteously, and process reservations, cancellations, and updates.
- Accurately process cash and credit card transactions, prepare deposits, and secure assigned bank.
- Up-sell rooms to maximize revenue and follow seasonal demand reservation strategies.
- Service the shoppe and pour, ensuring compliance with local laws regarding alcoholic beverage sales.
- Fulfill guest special requests and ensure proper delivery of guest services.
- Issue, control, and release guest safe-deposit boxes.
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and alcohol services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of previous hotel experience preferred; background in the extended stay industry is a plus.
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages beneficial.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical skills, including basic math, percentages, and variances preferred.
- Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Frequently standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
- Ability to carry, lift, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently handling objects and equipment.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Required to obtain a ServSafe certification; TIPS certification may also be required.
- Willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
