About the Role
This is an on-site, full-time position based in Marble Hill, GA, with infrequent travel to Chatsworth and Whitestone. The Production Logistics Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for plant logistics across three North Georgia plants, ensuring seamless product movement from production to customers.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the direct line of communication between Customer Service, Production, customers, and carriers, informing managers of urgent orders and coordinating with logistics providers regarding readiness times.
- Manage truck pickup schedules, prepare daily open order reports for production meetings, and allocate customer orders for the daily production schedule.
- Oversee dock and rail operations, including collecting bulk truck and rail weights, processing Bills of Lading (BOL) for rail shipments, and managing dock appointments. Ensure orders transfer correctly from SAP to the Transportation Management System (TMS) and troubleshoot as needed.
- Monitor plant capacity using SAP to enable forward planning for product demand and support Customer Service with accurate order entry.
- Track and communicate assigned KPIs, map out new procedures, and update existing ones. Report logistics issues and opportunities to upper management, recommending and leading corrective actions.
- Collaborate with packaging and customer service teams to approve alternative materials (e.g., different bags or pallets) to prevent delays.
- Train other Site Logistics Coordinators on processes and procedures, including occasional travel to other locations to ensure network alignment.
- Review the shipped-but-not-processed report at month-end and process the balance of completed shipments.
Requirements
- High School diploma required, with 2 to 3 years of experience in logistics, production, or customer service support within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with ERP business systems in a manufacturing setting (SAP experience highly preferred).
- Extensive knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Excel.
- Willingness to periodically check emails after hours for emergency situations.
- Strong analytical skills to anticipate bottlenecks and make data-driven decisions.
- Exceptional organizational skills, multitasking ability, and task prioritization in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with plant floor operators, logistics providers, and upper management.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Primarily an office-based role with high connectivity to the manufacturing floor.
- Approximately 80% of time spent sitting and navigating systems, and 20% walking or standing.
- Requires manual dexterity and keyboarding skills for ERP and TMS platforms.
- Ability to drive for occasional travel to other sites.
