About the Role

News/Talk 98.9 WORD (WYRD-FM) is seeking a full-time News Anchor/Reporter to create on-air and digital content. Candidates must have an aggressive, curious mindset, strong work ethic, and the ability to multi-task efficiently to meet deadlines while demonstrating creative instincts in finding and breaking local stories.

Responsibilities

• Cover breaking news on-air and in digital content
• Develop compelling news content for on-air and digital assets
• Other duties as required by management

Requirements

• High energy, passionate approach to news reporting
• Strong journalistic writing skills
• Basic digital video and editing skills
• Experience anchoring on-air newscasts
• Ability to deliver accurate reporting with speed to market
• Mobility to cover news on the scene and in the field
• Existing cell phone service and a recent-edition smartphone
• Valid driver’s license, satisfactory motor vehicle record, and proof of insurance if using your own vehicle

Qualifications

Preferred:

• 2 or more years of experience covering breaking news and original news stories for media using audio and digital assets
• Experience producing content for multi-media platforms including web and social media
