Newborn Care Specialist Non-Medical

Responsibilities

• Infant Care Supervision: Providing supervision, lulling infants back to sleep, and routine diapering/hygiene.
• Feeding Support: Assisting with bottle feeding (formula or expressed milk) as directed by the parent or bringing the infant to the mother for nursing.
• Safety Oversight: Supervision of sleeping child and promoting a safe environment while strictly following safe-sleep protocols.
• Mother Support: Preparing light meals for the mother and providing emotional support and companionship during the recovery period.
• Household Assistance: Handling infant laundry, household organization, and cleaning baby supplies like bottles and pump parts; adherence to infection control process to maintain safety.
• Communication: Maintaining client confidentiality and providing daily reporting post-shift. Notification of parent immediately in emergency situations and calling for help by dialing 911.

Requirements

• Must complete agency training in safe sleep, bottle preparation, and infection control.
• 18 years of age or older and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening.
• CNA, HHA, PCA certifications preferred.
• Compliance with CT elder and child abuse reporting requirements, both internally and externally.
• Ability to lift infant.
• Ability to remain awake during overnight work.
• Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

Competitive Pay: $350–$400 per day for live-in's and $19-$22 per hour for hourly work.
