About the role

A New-Used Truck & Trailer Salesperson is responsible for selling new and used trucks and trailers while achieving and maintaining appropriate levels of gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities may change at any time at the discretion of Border International.

Responsibilities

  • Satisfy the transportation needs of new and used truck & trailer purchasers.
  • Approach, greet, and assist customers entering the dealership showroom or sales lot.
  • Assist customers in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening to their responses; suggest alternative vehicles if necessary.
  • Understand automotive business terminology and stay updated on product technology, inventory, features, and accessories.
  • Provide thorough product information and demonstrations to all prospects.
  • Follow dealership procedures for customer identification before test drives, set up appointments, and accompany customers on test drives (unless they are known or returning customers).
  • Maintain the truck lot by ensuring vehicles are returned or parked in the correct sold/pending area.
  • Exhibit a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize the dealership’s sales control and follow-up system.
  • Know and understand federal, state, and local laws governing retail auto sales.
  • Establish personal income goals consistent with dealership productivity standards and devise strategies to meet them.
  • Understand equity, values, and depreciation, and explain these concepts to customers.
  • Ensure the sales manager meets each customer.
  • Prepare sold vehicles for delivery (clean, fill gas tank, ensure all features are operational).
  • Personally deliver vehicles to customers, ensuring they understand the vehicle’s operating features, warranty, and paperwork.
  • Introduce customers to service department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of available repairs and maintenance.
  • Coordinate all repairs with the New/Used Truck manager.
  • Follow up on post-delivery items, tag/title work, "we-owes," and special requests to meet customer expectations.
  • Maintain an owner follow-up system to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Work with the service department and body shop to ensure vehicles are properly reconditioned on schedule.
  • Assist with the new and used truck & trailer inspection process.
  • Review and analyze daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly actions to improve time utilization and planning.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Three years of sales or customer service experience.
  • Familiarity with the transportation industry.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid state driver’s license; must meet insurability standards; CDL preferred.
  • Flexible schedule—must be available to work some Saturdays.

Schedule

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.
