New Jersey/New York – Senior Project Manager / Team Leader – Water & Wastewater

The Senior Project Manager / Team Leader will lead major infrastructure programs, build teams, and improve project delivery in the NJ/NY water business. The role involves significant involvement in team development and succession planning, and offers opportunities for career advancement.
About the Role
The NJ/NY market presents a sustained pipeline of complex municipal infrastructure work, driven by NJDEP compliance programs, consent decrees, capital improvement mandates, and federal investment. The role supports the growth of the practice and includes opportunities for leadership visibility and collaboration with regional management.
Responsibilities
- Lead planning, design, permitting, and construction-phase services for major water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk across concurrent programs
- Develop and mentor project managers, engineers, and technical staff
- Support recruiting and workforce growth initiatives as the practice expands
- Support strategic pursuits, proposals, and account growth
- Drive project delivery excellence and establish operational best practices
Requirements
- PE license in NJ or NY required, or ability to obtain through reciprocity
- 10–20+ years of municipal water/wastewater consulting experience
- Strong project management and leadership experience on complex infrastructure programs
- Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with NJDEP permitting, consent decree environments, and municipal capital programs preferred
- Business development experience and existing client relationships are highly desirable
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related field; 10–20+ years of relevant experience
- Skills: Strong project management, leadership, and mentoring skills; familiarity with NJDEP permitting and consent decree environments; business development experience

WSP offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $119,600 - $213,200, along with a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and retirement savings plans. Additional benefits may vary by location.
