About the role

Full-time night shift position (7 p–7 a) in the Oncology Nursing department at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

Major Responsibilities

  • Participate in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices.
  • Use the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families across the care continuum.
  • Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team to influence outcomes.
  • Promote and uphold a culture of safety.
  • Continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes and take action as needed.
  • Safely administer medications, treatments, and therapies according to clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution; foster team collaboration and appropriate delegation.
  • Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications.
  • Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics and practice ethical decision-making; respect interdisciplinary roles and contribute to integrated, unbiased patient care.
  • Delegate appropriately to other Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and unlicensed assistive personnel (e.g., nurse aides, credentialed medical assistants).
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health record documentation.
  • Float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs as required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including growth and development principles across the lifespan.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Graduate of a Board of Nursing–approved nursing education program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact license and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where services are provided.
  • Licensed nurses practicing via telehealth/telenursing/virtual modalities must be licensed or hold the privilege to practice in the state(s) where the client(s) is/are located and are responsible for complying with the laws, rules, regulations, and standards of practice in those states.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
  • Capable of lifting and supporting up to 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with fine hand manipulation skills for procedures such as IV insertion.
  • Capable of maneuvering foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • Perform physical safety interventions including patient restraint and verbal de-escalation when needed.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals, hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable diseases; appropriate protective clothing and equipment must be worn.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required; additional department-specific physical requirements may apply.

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).

Pay

$38.20 – $57.30 per hour (base compensation within range based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training; premium and incentive pay may apply).
