About the role
The Coeta and Donald Barker Foundation Nurse Residency Program at Sacred Heart Medical Center Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon, is designed for new graduate nurses or those with less than 12 months of acute care experience. The program aims to build clinical skills, leadership, and confidence in the professional nurse role.
Responsibilities
- Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards.
- Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families, and all members of the care delivery team.
- Affirms patient care needs and documents in the healthcare record according to established standards.
- Directs and delegates care to other team members based on their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
- Maintains professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
- Participates in the development and maintenance of hospital policies, procedures, and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection prevention programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Recent RN graduate (within 12 months) or RN licensed less than 12 months with less than 6 months of Acute Care experience.
- Active Oregon RN license by date of hire.
- American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by date of hire.
- Able to participate in all program activities throughout the 12-month residency period.
- Able to work a minimum of 36 hours/week, variable shifts and shift lengths, and rotate per union standards.
- Commitment to a 12-month program and willingness to sign a 2-year agreement.
Qualifications
- Accredited School of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs.
- Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family-centered work environment.
- Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy, and procedures.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills.
- Required to have community-specific document for each Unit/Department required credentials.
