New Grad RN Resident - Med/Surg and Telemetry
About the role
Join Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, a Magnet-recognized organization awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for excellence in professional nursing practice. As an RN Resident on the 6 North/South Med/Surg and Telemetry Units, you will provide comprehensive care for adults (18+) with medical and surgical diagnoses in a warm, healing environment. This role involves direct interaction with patients, families, and visitors to enhance their experience and provide healthcare information.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a one-year, accredited Nurse Residency program with nine tailored tracks, including online modules, simulation lab, and hands-on training.
- Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
- Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care based on acuity, patient preference, and resource availability.
- Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate corrective or preventive action.
- Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
- Document patient care in medical records.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- If in a Critical Care area, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through AHA must be presented upon hire or within the first year.
- New graduate or less than one year of RN work experience, or an experienced RN transitioning from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year of current acute direct patient care RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Physical Requirements
- Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or negligible to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Personal Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using PPE as required for procedures.

Pay
Hourly pay range for new hires: $35.50 – $55.60. Actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental, vision, retirement contributions).
Schedule
Day/night rotating shifts: 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
