New Grad RN Resident – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, a Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The ICU provides medical services for complex acute and chronic health issues, including trauma, high-risk obstetrics, sepsis, GI bleeds, and strokes. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will work alongside a dedicated team, delivering exceptional care by interacting directly with patients, families, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability).
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce, or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the AHA or American Red Cross (upon hire or within one year of employment).
• New grad or less than one year of RN work experience, or if an experienced RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year of current acute direct patient care RN experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

Rotating day/night shifts from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Pay

Pay range minimum hourly: $35.50. Maximum hourly: $55.60. The actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
