New Grad RN Resident Cardiac Telemetry

About the Role

The HCA Healthcare Residency Program at St. David's Georgetown Hospital is a year-long, paid program designed to transition new nurses from the classroom to professional practice. The program provides hands-on experience, advanced clinical training in a specialty area, and a supportive community of nurse educators, experienced nurses, and fellow residents. Summer cohort start dates are available in May, June, July, and August 2026, depending on specialty training needs.

The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with department-specific requirements and state/national standards. Using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage," the RN Resident collaborates with medical providers and care teams to provide individualized, compassionate care while serving as a patient and family advocate.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, reporting any changes in status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers.
  • Document care administration in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic response.
  • Notify providers and intervene as needed for unintended medication responses.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate patient needs.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures.
  • Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
  • Participate in monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training, hands-on simulations, and an evidence-based practice project.
  • Work collaboratively with mentors and nurse leaders.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment.
  • Additional certifications may be required during employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the state of employment.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Some travel may be needed for training.
