About the Role

The HCA Nurse Residency Program at HCA HealthONE Swedish is a year-long, paid program designed to transition new graduate nurses from the classroom to professional practice. The program provides hands-on experience, clinical training, and support to develop critical thinking and clinical skills.

As a Resident I Graduate Nurse, you will participate in:

• Advanced clinical training in a specialty area
• Monthly educational sessions
• Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor
• Skills measurement and evaluation through hands-on simulations
• Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders
• Collaborative work on an evidence-based practice project

Responsibilities

The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with departmental and state/specialty standards. Responsibilities include:

• Assessing patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, reporting changes in status
• Performing procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers
• Documenting care administration in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner
• Administering prescribed medications and monitoring patient response
• Notifying providers and intervening in the event of unintended medication responses
• Responding promptly to patient requests and proactively addressing patient needs
• Educating patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures
• Translating complex medical terminology to ensure understanding

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment
• Additional certifications may be required during employment
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the state of employment
• No previous experience required
• Some travel may be needed for training
