New Business Consultant
Job Overview
A New Business Consultant is primarily responsible for supporting the sales department and onboarding new clients. This position reports to our Director. Excellent customer service, an ability to complete workload in a timely manner, sales and marketing skills, and a commitment to professional development are critical aspects to success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Client Onboarding & Plan Conversions
- Coordinate onboarding for new 401(k), profit sharing, and defined contribution clients as assigned.
- Gather required data and set up new clients in internal systems.
- Ensure a smooth handoff from Sales to Onboarding to Plan Administration team.
- Partner with advisors, CPAs, recordkeepers, and investment companies to execute onboarding tasks.
- Maintain onboarding timelines, proactively addressing delays, risks, or missing information.
- Coordinate investment company conversions for existing clients.
- Serve as a resource to internal teams on sold business and onboarding requirements.
- Document Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare, review, and deliver plan documents, amendments, and restatements.
- Ensure compliance with IRS, DOL, ERISA, and SECURE/SECURE 2.0 requirements.
- Collaborate with internal technical experts on regulatory updates and document changes.
- Monitor status of document work and proactively address delays or risks.
- Review complex or customized plan provisions with accuracy and clarity.
- Sales Support & Relationship Development
- Welcome new clients and referral sources, reinforcing Blue Ridge’s value and service model.
- Prepare service agreements for prospective clients and partners.
- Support the Sales team by maintaining strong relationships with advisors, CPAs, wholesalers, and other referral partners.
- Aid in developing new referral sources and representing Blue Ridge well in all interactions.
- Participate in client and advisor discussions to support onboarding and document needs.
- Process Execution & Continuous Improvement
- Follow established workflows to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, and client experience.
- Participate in working groups to enhance internal systems and service delivery.
- Utilize PensionPro, FT William (FTW), and other internal platforms to manage onboarding and document tasks.
- Contribute to company-wide initiatives that strengthen Blue Ridge’s work product and operational efficiency.
- Client Service & Consulting
- Provide timely, professional communication to clients, advisors, and internal partners.
- Stay current on retirement plan rules, regulations, and industry trends through research, training, and continuing education.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service, accuracy, and responsiveness.
- 3–5+ years of experience in retirement plan administration (TPA experience required)
- Strong knowledge of 401(k) plan design and compliance requirements
- Experience reviewing a variety of documents, including complex and customized plan documents
- Knowledge of onboarding processes
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to provide and maintain a distraction-free work environment, a professional workspace, and reliable high-speed internet connection.
- QKA, QKC, or other ASPPA credentials (or progress toward certification)
- Experience with FT William document software
- Experience working with various recordkeeping platforms

Compensation
Blue Ridge is committed to equal pay and pay transparency. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 annually. Compensation may vary based on geographic location, relevant experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, and business needs.
