New Americans Initiative Instructor
The YMCA of Greater New York seeks a New Americans Initiative Instructor to develop and facilitate classes aligned with adult learning principles. Responsibilities include curriculum development, classroom administration, pre/post-testing, and supporting program operations.
- Curriculum Development: Develop lesson plans reflecting adult learning principles, maintain lesson plans and documentation.
- Facilitation and Classroom Administration: Teach ESOL, HSE/ABE, Citizenship, Technology, Foreign Language, or other classes, assess students, manage attendance, and enter data into databases.
- Additional Responsibilities: Model hospitality, support programming, work as part of a team, attend training sessions, and participate in special events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- One (1) year of relevant teaching experience in English
- Bilingual preferred
- Willingness to work as part of a team and establish positive relationships
- Knowledge of adult literacy principles, lesson planning, assessment tools, Microsoft Office, and civic education
