New Americans Initiative Instructor

The YMCA of Greater New York seeks a New Americans Initiative Instructor to develop and facilitate classes aligned with adult learning principles. Responsibilities include curriculum development, classroom administration, pre/post-testing, and supporting program operations.

• Curriculum Development: Develop lesson plans reflecting adult learning principles, maintain lesson plans and documentation.
• Facilitation and Classroom Administration: Teach ESOL, HSE/ABE, Citizenship, Technology, Foreign Language, or other classes, assess students, manage attendance, and enter data into databases.
• Additional Responsibilities: Model hospitality, support programming, work as part of a team, attend training sessions, and participate in special events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• One (1) year of relevant teaching experience in English
• Bilingual preferred
• Willingness to work as part of a team and establish positive relationships
• Knowledge of adult literacy principles, lesson planning, assessment tools, Microsoft Office, and civic education
