About the role
The University of Iowa Department of Neurosurgery is seeking an Academic/Clinical Program Management Specialist to manage accreditation compliance, educational program coordination, onboarding, regulatory reporting, and program development initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Primary management of ACGME annual update & accreditation activities
- Coordinate ADS updates, case logs, Clinical competency committee/Program Evaluation Committee documentation
- Prepare and organize internal reviews, site visits, special reviews, citations/action plans
- Track resident duty hours, supervision compliance, board eligibility, licensure, etc.
- Develop compliance dashboards or reports for program leadership
- Aid with GME strategic initiatives and special reviews
- Act as departmental liaison with GME office and HR
- Direct management of ERAS/Thalamus/interview season
- Develop/improve recruitment strategy and applicant communication plans
- Coordinate second looks, sub-internship recruitment, scholarship programs
- Analyze and report match outcomes and recruitment metrics
- Lead onboarding/credentialing workflows & licensure tracking
- Build resident alumni database and board pass tracking
- Departmental/Operational Projects
- Lead implementation of new educational initiatives and development of new curriculum
- Coordinate downtown campus educational integration
- Manage/oversee resident coverage models and call schedule
- Participate in departmental committees related to residents
- Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage residency budget(s) for travel/courses/etc. & coordinate travel reimbursements
- Oversee recruitment/interview expenses
- Track educational funds across programs and for individual trainees
- Multi-Program Scope
- Coordinate away rotators/sub-Is and scholarship program
- Pre-residency fellowship coordination
- Neurosurgery Spine fellowship administrator
- Medical student neurosurgery electives/sub-Is
- APP/student shadowing coordination
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1+ years of related experience in academic and/or healthcare program administration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer software applications (e.g., MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Demonstrated ability working as a member of a team
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in an academic health care center, hospital, or other medical/clinic setting
- Previous experience working with residency or fellowship training programs
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Previous experience with an Electronic Medical Record system or with EPIC
- Previous experience in developing materials for marketing
- Previous experience in web page editing and development
- Knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations
