About the Role
The Patient Care Technician serves as a supportive member of the patient care team, assisting in routine and non-complex aspects of patient care. The PCT assists RNs, LPNs, and Physicians in the patient care process and may have additional duties assigned within the scope of the role.
Responsibilities
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Take and record vital signs
- Support nursing staff and physicians in patient care tasks
- Perform duties within the scope of a Patient Care Technician role
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent required
- Graduate from a certified Nursing Assistant Program or a Health Occupations Program (HOSA) preferred
- Completion of first clinical rotation as a Nurse Student (e.g., completion of ‘Nursing Fundamentals’ course, including assistance with ADLs and vital signs) or 1 year of experience in a patient care role in an acute care, nursing home, or home care setting preferred
- BLS certification required
Skills
- Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety principles of physical care and comfort
- Medical terminology training preferred
- Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Sitting for 20% of the workday; mobility required for 80% of the workday
- Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
- Frequent reaching, use of hands, and repetitive actions
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds; pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds
- Continuous need for clear speaking, hearing sensitivity in conversations (phone or in-person), and visual acuity at close and distant ranges
- Inside work protected from weather but not necessarily from temperature changes
- Minimal noise levels; frequent computer work
- Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock, infectious disease, hazardous chemicals, and radiation

Shift: First Shift (Full-time, regular position)
