Neurology Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians - Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University

About the role

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University (SSVM) is seeking Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians to join our new veterinary program and teaching hospital. The hospital is located 1.5 miles from our main Glassboro campus.

Responsibilities

• Support the clinical services in the veterinary teaching hospital treating patients and educating students.
• Demonstrate a commitment to a collaborative and collegial work culture.

Requirements

• Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a neurology veterinary technician.
• Familiar with common neurologic disease, neurologic surgery and post operative care.
• Proficient with anesthesia and anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I-III (preferred experience with ASA I-V).
• Experience in surgical assisting and post-operative care.
• Able to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, Sp02, and ETC02 and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention of patient care.
• Strong communication skills.
• Available for future on-call rotation (required).

Skills

• Excellent problem-solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution).
• Experience running diagnostic imaging (MRI/CT/Radiology).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals.
• Provide superior nursing care or emergency first aid to recovering or injured animals.
• Familiarity with the use of ventilators.
• Comfortable utilizing digital radiography machines to acquire images using proper technique and positioning.
• Comfortable utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment.
