Job Summary
Good Samaritan Hospital is seeking a Neurosciences Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) to provide direct patient care services for critically ill complex (multi-organ) patients in an acute care setting in collaboration with Neuro ICU Teams/Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuro IR attendings.
Responsibilities
- Performs physical exams, collects and documents data
- Conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations
- Prescribes appropriate interventions and medications
- Counsels patients on disease prevention and treatment
- Coordinates the care and discharge of patients
- Participates in neurovascular research
Requirements
- Recent experience in Neuroscience/Stroke Service Line preferred
- Effective front-line supervision
- Word processing/spreadsheet, time management, clinical proficiency
- Title XXII, Quality Improvement
- Preference for completion of Neurosciences Fellowship but willing to train
- Proficiency in IR/NIR and ability to do theracentis, paracentesis and LP etc.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant from an accredited program
- Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in California
- Current BLS certification
- Completion of relevant coursework in Neurosciences
Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR)
