Neurology/Stroke Physician Assistant

Job Summary

Good Samaritan Hospital is seeking a Neurosciences Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) to provide direct patient care services for critically ill complex (multi-organ) patients in an acute care setting in collaboration with Neuro ICU Teams/Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuro IR attendings.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical exams, collects and documents data
• Conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• Orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations
• Prescribes appropriate interventions and medications
• Counsels patients on disease prevention and treatment
• Coordinates the care and discharge of patients
• Participates in neurovascular research

Requirements

• Recent experience in Neuroscience/Stroke Service Line preferred
• Effective front-line supervision
• Word processing/spreadsheet, time management, clinical proficiency
• Title XXII, Quality Improvement
• Preference for completion of Neurosciences Fellowship but willing to train
• Proficiency in IR/NIR and ability to do theracentis, paracentesis and LP etc.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant from an accredited program
• Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in California
• Current BLS certification
• Completion of relevant coursework in Neurosciences

• Excellent communication skills
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR)
