About the role

This position involves providing comprehensive care to patients with complex headache syndromes and general neurological conditions. Duties include reviewing and reporting test results, coordinating referrals, collaborating with private care providers, and providing follow-up care. Additionally, the role involves evaluating and coordinating multidisciplinary treatments, ordering various treatment modalities, and participating in interdisciplinary reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Provide follow-up care to patients with complex headache syndromes and general neurological conditions
  • Evaluate and coordinate multidisciplinary treatments of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, orthotics and prosthetics
  • Order other treatment modalities including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Speech Language, Wound Care, and the fitting of orthotics and prosthetics
  • Coordinate timely participation and case discussion with other members of the Neurology & Rehabilitation team
  • Communicate test results and care education to patients with compassion and respect
  • Maintain thorough research of patient medical records and imaging to prepare for interdisciplinary review
  • Participate in the development, improvement, and expansion of all aspects of the Neurology program
  • Notify and consult with the Primary Care Providers and Home Based Primary Care providers over any pertinent or critical data
  • Provide in-person patient care, electronic consults, Veterans Video Connect, telephone and any other resources available to coordinate care
  • Provide respectful, patient, compassionate explanations for the Veteran on the plan of care, orders, testing, evaluations, consults and follow through with the Veteran in every aspect of the personalized plan
  • Evaluate for prostheses, perform dressing changes, order wound care supplies, liquid nutrition, and all medications related to Neurology/Rehabilitation cases
  • Maintain professional working relationships with EEG Lab, EMG/NCS Lab, Rehabilitation Services including Power Mobility Clinic, Spine Clinic, SCI Program, Epilepsy Clinic, and other members of the General Neurology team
  • Refer patients for necessary studies, facilitate and order for Amputee Clinic services and Prosthetics
  • Participate in clinical research opportunities that include outcome data collection, analysis, and possible program development efforts
  • Perform administrative duties as directed by the service chief, including quality assurance, peer review, serving on various committees, research options or teaching

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~ Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam)
  • Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia
  • Two years of successful practice as a PA or 5 years PA experience preferred

Pay

Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30PM
