Neurodiagnostic Technologist

Full-time position, benefits eligible, 40 hours per week. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, split between Lake Norman, University, and Cabarrus locations. When volumes are low, the technologist will assist surrounding facilities as needed. Call and holiday requirements apply.

Pay

Pay range: $25.30 - $39.85 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex electroencephalogram (EEG) procedures, nerve conduction studies (NCV), evoked potential (EP), and other specialized neurodiagnostic tests.
• Demonstrates knowledge of equipment operator’s manual and calibration procedures; identifies and corrects basic equipment issues.
• Performs neurodiagnostic procedures using appropriate test strategies, electrode montage parameters, and calibration.
• Obtains relevant patient information from medical records and transfers it to the technologist’s report.
• Adapts methods and instrumentation based on medical history, clinical observations, and diagnostic findings.
• Adheres to ABRET standards for test recordings and maintains complete, accurate record-keeping, including history forms and archived data.
• Assists with specialized procedures such as long-term monitoring, intraoperative neuromonitoring, and evoked potentials.
• Verbalizes and implements appropriate actions during seizures or other medical emergencies.
• Demonstrates proper infection control practices and ensures hazardous materials are handled safely.
• Provides preceptor supervision to new technologists and student interns.
• Participates in ordering and maintaining department supplies.

Physical Requirements

• Work occurs in patient-care areas, including exam rooms, patient rooms, ICUs, and operating rooms.
• Requires standing, sitting, walking, lifting, bending, and moving heavy equipment.
• Must lift a minimum of 10 pounds to shoulder height.
• Must speak English clearly and have intact senses of sight and hearing.
• May require after-hours call rotation across multiple facilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; graduate of an accredited Neurodiagnostic program with 3 years of experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• EEG registry or eligibility for EEG registry preferred.
• Board eligibility for ABRET certification in EEG required within 2 years of hire; completion of departmental requirements for EEG board registry within 3 years.
• Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience with sensitive issues and conflict resolution.
• Ability to meet deadlines and knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and guidelines.
