Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, coordinate, and perform nerve conduction studies.
- Present results to a neurology physician for interpretation.
- Provide direct patient care and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
- Prepare patients and the study for positive outcomes, including standard precautionary procedures.
- Explain the procedure to patients and address any concerns.
- Schedule and navigate patients within the clinic.
- Summarize patient's neurologic status and clinical history from medical records, patients, or other knowledgeable sources.
- Perform standard and complex EMG/NCS studies, EEG studies, and autonomic studies.
- Obtain recordings and deliver results to the physician for interpretation.
- Report critical test results to the interpreting physician and document all communications according to facility policy and procedure.
- Maintain equipment and inventory of supplies, reorder as necessary.
- Detect instrument malfunctions, make minor maintenance adjustments, or report need for major repairs to Clinical Engineering.
Requirements
- Board Certification in NCS by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine - Preferred
- High School Diploma or GED - Required
- Completion of NCS training program or Associates/Bachelor's in related field - Required
- Completion of electroneurodiagnostic training program or Associates/Bachelor's in related field - Required
- 6 months related experience - Preferred
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, Associates/Bachelor's in related field.
- Licenses and Certifications: EMG/NCS Certificate - Preferred.
