Responsibilities
- Maintains vigilance over patients undergoing cEEG recording for safety.
- Alerts nursing and/or technologist staff during clinical seizures or other paroxysmal events.
- Assists in monitoring all EMU patients to ensure their safety.
- Recognizes normal and abnormal EEG waveform patterns.
- Alerts physicians and supervising Neurophysiology technologist of clinical/subclinical seizures or behavioral arrest changes.
- Troubleshoots EEG readings in real time to minimize risks of poor or incomplete data.
- Assists Neurodiagnostic Technologists as needed, including restocking supplies and electrode removal.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications
- Trained in-house with 20 clinical observation hours.
- Successfully completed didactic course (ASET LTM 100).
- Competency assessments including but not limited to:
- Recognition of clinical seizures and other clinical paroxysmal events.
- Ictal testing procedures.
- Measures to reduce risk of fall.
- Sepreiz first aid.
