About the role
The role involves providing technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures utilizing sterile and aseptic technique. It includes acquiring all imaging and post-processing, providing emergency services on call, and maintaining confidentiality of patient and unit information.
Responsibilities
- Maintains sterile technique while assembling supplies for physicians and other lab personnel.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit information.
- Monitors and interprets hemodynamic monitoring.
- Observes sterile technique while scrubbing and entering the lab.
- Maintains the confidentiality of the patient and unit information.
- Prepares entry site for procedures using sterile technique.
- Maintains continuous monitoring of patient's ECG and blood pressure.
- Documents and advises the physician of any activity in an accurate and timely manner.
- Participates in the on-call rotation of the laboratory and remains available for emergent procedures.
- Acts as the laboratory's code team by initiating resuscitative measures and cardiac defibrillators.
- Correctly documents all procedures performed and utilizes the inventory control system.
- Bills for all procedures correctly.
- Participates in educational and in-service opportunities.
- Instructs radiography students in patient positioning, technique selection, equipment manipulation, and accessory device usage.
- Maintains specialization in Neuroradiology and Vascular IR procedures.
- Participates in inventory management of the department.
- Checks and prepares patients prior to procedures.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
- Current Radiography license as required by state board where services will be provided.
- Nationally certified as defined by location where services will be provided: MD - Registered Radiography Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire; OH - Registered Radiography Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire; PA - Registered Radiography Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within Six (6) months of graduation from Medical Imaging program; WV - Registered Radiography Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire.
- State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable).
Qualifications
- One year of experience as an interventional radiologic technologist.
Skills and Abilities
- Communicate with physicians and peers on a professional level.
- Knowledgeable in Sterile Technique.
- Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, and transmitting images to data storage system.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, operating manuals, product information, or regulations.
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization of variables.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time while wearing lead aprons.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to differentiate various shades of gray as depicted on a black and white television monitor or photograph.
Working Environment
- The work environment is clinical by nature.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Maintains Radiation safety.
