About the role
The Interventional Radiologic Technologist performs routine and complex invasive vascular and therapeutic imaging procedures under the direct supervision of a radiologist or vascular surgeon. Responsibilities include explaining procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort, and obtaining diagnostic-quality imaging for interpretation.
Responsibilities
- Performs interventional radiologic procedures (primarily angiography) under physician direction, including processing documentation and assisting as required.
- Demonstrates competency in diagnostic, standard, and neurological interventional radiology procedures, procedural scrub, and room preparation/setup, including power injector operation.
- Follows established standards and practices under the direction of a credentialed radiologist or vascular surgeon.
- Assists with complex invasive vascular and therapeutic imaging procedures, including but not limited to:
- Diagnostic body and neuro angiograms
- Vascular and carotid stenting
- Embolization
- Participates in an on-call schedule for neurological cases; must live within 30 minutes of the hospital to meet required response time.
- Performs holding pressure and placement of closure devices.
- Operates ultrasound machines and processes 3D imaging.
- Assists in preparing embolic materials, catheters, angioplasty balloons, vascular stents, and coils.
- Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System and complies with safety policies and ethical standards.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology (RT) or Radiography (ARRT-R).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
