Networking ITS Field Technician (Baton Rouge)

The Applications Specialist will provide technical support and training for Wavetronix products, including networking and ITS field services. The role involves travel to Jackson, MS or Baton Rouge, and may involve multiple office locations.

About the role

  • Help solve customer technical problems and professionally guide them through product installations, training, and support.
  • Travel 50% or more per month.
  • Work flexible shifts and adapt to changing project schedules.
  • Provide technical training to up to 10 people.
  • Conduct technical site surveys and diagnose errors.
  • Document processes and produce detailed trip reports.
  • Communicate with the team and share information across the organization.
  • Manage on-site installation/configuration of products.
  • Support customers both in the field and over the phone.
  • Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Have a basic understanding of networking.
  • Be excited about personal development and eager to engage in development training.
  • Travel as required within and between territories.

Responsibilities

  • Master installation and configuration of Wavetronix products.
  • Master troubleshooting and testing of Wavetronix technical equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Understand and explain technical procedures and processes.
  • Manage and document current projects and support cases.
  • Perform solo technical customer visits.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of field trouble shooting (networking, troubleshooting, and installation) or technical sales.
  • Self-starter and ability to execute presentations to large groups.
  • Previous field service experience in traffic signal/ITS cabinets (at least 5 years).
  • Technical degree (EE, EET) or certifications in ITS/traffic industry preferred.

Qualifications

  • Positive relationship with Wavetronix customers.
  • Effective communication skills (email, phone, in person).
  • Willingness to get hands dirty and solve customer problems.
  • Basic understanding of networking.
