Network Technician

About the role

Brightspeed is seeking an experienced Network Technician to join our growing team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for all aspects of working in the physical Central Office, including supporting and maintaining switching equipment, backup generators, special circuits, fiber and copper networks, transport networks, and central power platforms. This position requires working overtime and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain all switching equipment in Central Offices.
• Keep all backup generators in optimum condition.
• Install, support, and maintain special circuits, including working within the TIRKS system.
• Monitor and support all switch alarm activity.
• Install, support, and maintain fiber and copper networks.
• Support and maintain transport networks and central power platforms.

Requirements

• Familiarity with both inside and outside plant cabling practices.
• Self-motivated with the ability to drive issues to resolution.
• Ability to promote and sell Brightspeed services.
• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to work well with both customers and fellow peers.

This position is part of a bargaining unit and represented by a union. Depending on the applicable collective bargaining agreement, you may be required to join the union and pay union dues, pay union dues without joining, or have the choice to join the union with an obligation to pay dues if you do.
