Network Planning Engineer II
About the role
The Planning Engineer II remote contractor will support Local/ILEC Access Planning by researching fiber capacity, developing OSP project plans and cost estimates, and preparing Engineering handoff packages for customer-driven demand. Work will be completed in accordance with established LUMEN planning standards and documented processes.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least two years of OSP network planning experience
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of OSP fiber facilities, including underground, aerial, buried facilities, utility vaults, conduit, and general telecommunications engineering principles
- Experience using TIRKS, GSA, and/or NDS to analyze fiber routes, available capacity, and related network inventory
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment
- The ability to work independently with limited manager direction in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with Google Earth
- Familiarity with OSP Fiber to the Tower and Fiber to the Business
