About the role

As a Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician II, you will help keep mission-critical networks running by monitoring events, responding to incidents, and driving timely restoration of services. This role operates in a 24/7/365 environment and focuses on fault isolation, troubleshooting, and SLA-driven service restoration. You will work closely with shift leadership while building strong familiarity with operational tools, SOPs, and network technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and monitor incident tickets using ServiceNow ITSM+S / JIRA.
  • Provide timely situational awareness to leadership and affected communities and communicate effectively with the O&M team and customers.
  • Monitor network events and element management failures 24/7/365.
  • Proactively analyze alarms, correlate fault information, identify impacts, isolate root causes, and coordinate fault corrections.
  • Support fault isolation and diagnose network issues, including testing and troubleshooting.
  • Notify relevant contacts based on network incidents and coordinate with other service providers to track and restore service.
  • Provide global situational awareness support and updates on outages.
  • Restore networks and services to fully operational status, ensuring compliance with SLAs.
  • Verify service restoration for customer-initiated tickets and provide 24/7/365 sustainment support for outages and service degradation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in DISN functions (routers, switches, crypto devices, etc.), record and track escalated incident tickets, and work directly with Shift Leads and O&M leadership for guidance.
  • Maintain general knowledge of training, SOPs, and tools within O&M.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (required).
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent) by the start date.
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility (requires U.S. citizenship).
  • On-site work arrangement.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, or performance management.
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following: routers, switches, crypto devices, DSN/DRSN, Video Services, Promina, CISCO, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, Optical Switching.
  • General understanding of network topologies, including both transport and IP.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in a tech control facility or cyber transport operations.
  • Familiarity with circuit actions and vendor management.
  • IP/Transport architecture experience.
  • SolarWinds and JIRA experience.
  • Experience in a Telco NOC or with inside or outside plant operations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, performance management, change management.
  • Additional certifications such as CCNA, CYSA+, CASP, CCNP, JNCIE-ENT, JNCIA-Junos, WCNA, CCIE, F5 Networks Certified Technical Specialist, ITILv4, CCA-N, CCA-V, and SolarWinds Certified Professional.

Pay

Pay range: $65,000–$85,000 (annual). This pay range is based on qualifications and experience, and assumes all role requirements are met.
