Network Engineer, Senior

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Defense Stockpile Management Systems (DSMS) support is searching for a Sr. Network Engineer to join their team in Fort Belvoir, VA. The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of enterprise LAN/WAN environments. This role ensures strict adherence to Department of War (DoW) cybersecurity and configuration-management standards, providing critical technical leadership, Operations & Maintenance (O&M), and continuous monitoring for mission-critical networks.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain multi-vendor routing/switching platforms (Cisco), VPN concentrators, and F5 load balancers.
- Design and implement network topologies, managing complex routing protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS.
- Apply DoW STIG/SRG requirements to all network devices to maintain IAVA/IAVM compliance.
- Perform verification across HBSS modules and utilize enterprise automation tools to deploy secure baselines.
- Responsible for ensuring 99.7% network uptime across critical and strategic enclaves, driving cybersecurity compliance through rigorous STIG/IAVA applications, and leading Network engineering initiatives during complex migrations, hardware refreshes, and network outages.
- Design, plan, and execute enterprise network migrations, topology updates, and hardware refreshes (Cisco, Palo Alto, etc).
- Develop and maintain comprehensive network diagrams, rack elevations, and disaster recovery plans.
- Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies.
- Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process.
- Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements.
- Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.
Requirements
- BA/BS or equivalent work experience and 10+ years of networking engineering experience
- Work experience with Network Protocols: WAN|LAN, TCP|IP, VPN, IPS/IDS, SNMP, STP, NTP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, H.323/MGCP, SIP, VRF, IEEE 802.1x|802.1q
- Work experience with Management & Security: SolarWinds, Remedy, Spectrum, Wireshark, ASDM, ASA, ISE, ESA, WSA, HBSS
- Certifications: CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Collaboration; CompTIA Security+ (Required for DoW 8570/8140 compliance)
- Security Clearance Required: Active Secret Clearance

Pay
The likely salary range for this position is $148,750 – $201,250. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
