Network Engineer Senior
About the role
We are seeking a creative and driven professional with a passion for solving real world issues on a cross-functional, fast paced team. The Network Engineer Senior role is to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support the USBICES-X program.
Responsibilities
The Senior Network Engineer will apply communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. Key responsibilities include:
- Support for Coalition Integration Lab’s engineering and testing requirements
- Support and Deployment for US BICES bi-lat systems and networking
- Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes
- Designs and defines network architecture for new or existing computer systems
- Performs complex network development and design work
- Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements
- Provides input for documentation on new or existing networks
- Develops and conducts tests to ensure networks meet documented user requirements
- Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems
- Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance
- Determines network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility
- May provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced systems engineers
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- 5+ years of related Network Engineering experience
- Must possess and maintain a Secret Clearance, TS, SCI Preferred
- BA/BS degree – may substitute additional years of experience
- Must possess a completed CCNA certification
- Must meet DOW 8140 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges and must obtain ITIL V4 Foundation within six months of hire
- Knowledge and experience with data center networking
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast
- Experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets
- Understanding of network virtualization
- Basic Understanding of Broadcom’s NSX-T
- Knowledge and experience with F5-OS and F5 BIG-IP’s LTM and APM
- Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.)
- Knowledge and experience with HAIPE-based encryption devices
- Knowledge and experience with maintaining COMSEC accounts
- Knowledge and experience with current Juniper JUNOS software and hardware
- Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and NXOS software and hardware
- Knowledge and experience with Firepower Management Center and Firepower Threat Defense
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work
- Highly organized with strong ability to prioritize work and work autonomously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Great attention to detail and presentation
- Results driven, highly efficient, energetic, and highly motivated
- Must possess a high degree of intelligence, competence, maturity, adaptability, resilience, integrity, and initiative
Skills
Preferred qualifications include:
- Completed any CISCO Advanced certifications
- Completed any JUNIPER Advanced certifications
- Knowledge of Virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft
- Knowledge of Automation technologies for Networking (Ansible/Python)
- Understanding of concepts presented in the VMware Data Center Virtualization Fundamentals course
- Understanding of VxRail Manager and best practices
- VDI experience highly desired
Pay
The likely salary range for this position is $102,000 - $138,000.
Schedule
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. Travel Required: Less than 10%. Telecommuting Options: Onsite. Work Location: USA VA Langley AFB.
