Network Engineer, NetOps Infrastructure
RingCentral is a $2 billion annual revenue company with double-digit Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) and a $93 billion market opportunity in UCaaS, Contact Center, and AI-powered adjacencies. We invest over $250 million annually in AI-enabled technology, including our proprietary AI solution, RingSense AI, designed to meet the business needs of our customers.
About the role
Our data centers carry real-time voice, video, and messaging for customers worldwide, with an availability target of 99.999%. You'll join the NetOPS Infrastructure team, which owns routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers across our global data center footprint. This is production infrastructure, and the team spans the US, EU, and India. You'll work your own business hours, five days a week, with no night shifts. Occasional weekend work may be required during planned maintenance windows.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot production issues end-to-end — from the routing table through firewall policy down into the Linux network stack on the host.
- Handle operational work to maintain five-nines availability: firewall access changes, patching, config reviews, and capacity checks.
- Deliver infrastructure projects — hardware refresh and replacement, platform migrations, and new data center capacity.
- Work directly with platform and application teams instead of handing tickets across a wall.
- Support Lab, Stage, and Regression environments alongside production.
Requirements
- 3+ years running production networks — ISP, enterprise, or data center.
- Deep expertise in TCP/IP, including path selection (e.g., BGP) and packet capture analysis.
- Hands-on experience with routing and switching: OSPF, iBGP/eBGP, VRFs, PBR, STP/RSTP, VRRP, and link aggregation.
- Experience with tunneling: GRE, IPIP, IPSec.
- Proficiency with firewalls, including vendor platforms and iptables/firewall.
- Strong Linux skills, including the network stack — interfaces, routing tables, netfilter, socket state, and tcpdump.
- Enough server-side context (bare metal, hypervisors, containers) to follow problems past the switch port.
- Hands-on Juniper experience across routing, switching, and security platforms.
Skills
Nice to have:
- EVPN/VXLAN, MC-LAG, ECMP, MPLS.
- High availability and clustering.
- Load balancing (A10, F5, IPVS).
- Scripting for workflow automation — Bash, Python, NETCONF, PyEZ, Ansible.
- Cloud networking.
- Tools: NetBox, Zabbix, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana.
While this is an infrastructure team, automation is encouraged if it improves your workflow. You’ll have free access to AI assistants under company policies to support config review, log analysis, scripting, and documentation.
Working with AI
- You’ve used AI assistants for real engineering work, not just experimentation.
- You can scope prompts effectively and iterate when outputs are incorrect.
- You verify AI outputs against documentation and lab testing before trusting them.
- You follow data-handling policies for external tools.
Why this team
You’ll work on global-scale, real-time traffic systems with an availability bar that makes the work challenging and rewarding. You’ll own systems rather than tickets, and there’s a strong automation and tooling practice available if you want to explore that path later.
