Network Engineer, Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Network Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations team at AWS. In this role, you will be instrumental in building and expanding Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions, ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of our next-generation network systems. You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to support data center operations, capacity management, and network deployment activities. Your expertise will help drive automation initiatives, optimize operational procedures, and develop innovative solutions to support AWS’s expanding global infrastructure. The ideal candidate will demonstrate high autonomy, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent communication skills, with substantial experience supporting large-scale enterprise networks.

Responsibilities

• Communicate project status, challenges, and blockers effectively to leadership and project management teams
• Perform device build, cabling validation, and quality assurance activities in data centers
• Manage cabling vendor activities and oversee quality assurance processes
• Support network engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows, including hardware configuration and rollout
• Address customer requests via Remedy trouble ticketing system efficiently and accurately
• Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including device configuration and application interactions
• Develop simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and operational processes
• Manage work priorities through ticketing systems, workflows, and stakeholder collaboration to remove project obstacles
• Travel within the designated geographical area, with potential international travel up to 40%, including participation in small projects with ambiguous details

Qualifications

• Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
• General understanding of data center infrastructure components and sub-components
• At least 3+ years of mid-level or enterprise experience as a technician or engineer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (preferred)
• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF, and other routing and switching technologies (preferred)
• Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA (preferred)
