EngineeringFull-time

AWS seeks a highly motivated, top-tier Optical Network Engineer for the Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) Network Scaling and Deployment team. This critical role will drive the expansion of AWS's next-generation IP network infrastructure, innovating in network automation and cloud networking technologies to build highly available, secure, and scalable solutions.

About the role

The ideal candidate will leverage their knowledge of optical networking concepts and experience in large-scale enterprise or service provider environments to drive complex issues to resolution autonomously or collaboratively. They will utilize AWS's advanced tools to develop automations that reduce manual operations, implementing approaches to automate network deployments across AWS's global data centers.

This role requires supporting a 24/7 operations on-call rotation and the capability to work on-site for critical events or needs. The candidate selected must obtain and maintain a security clearance at the TS/SCI with polygraph level. Upon start, the selected candidate will be sponsored for a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

  • Maintain Amazon Web Services’ next-generation networks for significant AWS customers by providing critical network support to diagnose, mitigate impact, and resolve large-scale networking events.
  • Troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, platforms, performance, and configurations issues; including necessary low-level application interaction, Unix systems, and new-age networking software tools.
  • Lead network projects in the areas of network optical engineering, optical network deployment/implementation, network scaling, technology refresh, best practices application, and/or network optimization.
  • Partner with the broader Network/Infrastructure organization in the areas of optical network engineering, configurations standards, and tools.
  • Work closely with Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products, as well as assist with deployment and sustaining of networking software tools.
  • Maintain standards across the networking toolset and ensure full compliance with those standards and policies.
  • Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
  • Collaborate with highest-tier escalation engineers/resolvers.
