Network Administrator

About the role

Sentinel is seeking an experienced Network Administrator to support our client in Schaumburg, IL. This is a six-month onsite contract opportunity for a hands-on networking professional with strong Fortinet expertise and a background in network security, design, and infrastructure administration.

Responsibilities

• Supports Fortinet networking and security products, including FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitch, FortiAnalyzer, and related technologies.
• Manages cybersecurity advisories, vulnerabilities, and remediation activities.
• Designs, implements, and troubleshoots complex network environments.
• Ensures disaster recovery, incident response, and business continuity planning are in place.
• Works within local government, municipal, or public sector environments.
• Performs occasional after-hours support for maintenance windows, upgrades, and emergency issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience supporting Fortinet networking and security products.
• Strong experience with FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitch, FortiAnalyzer, and related Fortinet technologies.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience managing cybersecurity advisories, vulnerabilities, and remediation activities.
• Advanced understanding of networking protocols, routing, switching, wireless technologies, and network security best practices.
• Experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery, incident response, and business continuity planning.
• Previous experience working within local government, municipal, or public sector environments preferred.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Car ownership and valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Must demonstrate a “can-do” attitude.
