Network Administrator
Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of a growing organization in the Newark, New Jersey area for an experienced Network Administrator to join their IT team. This hybrid role is ideal for a hands-on networking professional who wants to take ownership of day-to-day network operations while contributing to longer-term infrastructure planning and security initiatives.
About the role
Day-to-day, you will monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and keep servers, switches, and firewalls running smoothly, often juggling multiple priorities. The role suits someone who remains calm under pressure during outages, enjoys documenting systems for clarity, and takes pride in building a stable, secure network the business can depend on.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless network infrastructure
- Monitor network performance and proactively resolve connectivity issues
- Configure and manage firewalls, routers, switches, and VPNs
- Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
- Implement and maintain network security protocols and access controls
- Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery testing
- Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
- Support onboarding and offboarding of employees from a network access perspective
- Collaborate with IT staff and vendors on infrastructure upgrades and projects
- Respond to and resolve help desk tickets related to network connectivity
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience
- Five or more years of experience administering enterprise network environments
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and switching
- Experience with Cisco or similar networking hardware
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms
- Familiarity with network security best practices and firewall management
- CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA certification preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical staff

Pay
The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
