About the role
Join our team of leaders in electrical power system maintenance, repair, testing, engineering, and training. As a NETA Field Service Technician, you will travel to customer sites (industrial and commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on low, medium, and high voltage (480 Volt to 600 kV) electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer job sites across the state and bordering states.
- Perform instrument transformer tests.
- Conduct power transformer testing, including Doble, TTR, insulation resistance, etc.
- Test both electro-mechanical and solid-state relays (proficiency preferred).
- Perform cable testing, including Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, and DC Hipot.
- Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches.
- Test low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
- Perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
- Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
Requirements
- NETA Certification (III or IV) or similar, or an Electrician license preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing and troubleshooting.
- Good PC skills, including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerDB a plus.
- Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
- Preferred certifications: OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED (training can be provided).
- Ability to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
- Ability to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 100 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must pass a fit-for-duty physical exam.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record.
- Availability for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel.
- U.S. passport and TWIC card a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without employer-sponsored visa.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC) or an EE Degree from an ABET-accredited college.
- Equivalent experience and training from the military (e.g., Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee) is also valued.
Pay
Pay Range: USD $46.83 - USD $72.93 per hour.
