Duties
- Perform care for well term newborns and sick newborns in various units.
- Assume responsibility for neonatal patients under the guidance of neonatologists and pediatricians.
- Initiate medical procedures based on assessment and diagnosis.
- Monitor specialized equipment like incubators and ventilators.
- Provide education and support to patients' families.
- Dispense medications under a collaborative agreement with a physician.
- Conduct diagnostic tests and perform procedures such as intubation and blood draws.
- Ensure proper feeding and basic care for newborns.
- Attend high-risk deliveries to assist with newborn admission and stabilization.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in nursing is required.
- Must be licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
- Must have certification from a national certifying body with prescriptive privileges.
- Advanced training as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is required.
- Desired: 3 years’ experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care (level 3 or higher).
Education
Education requirements include a Master’s degree in nursing and advanced training as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. A license from the Arkansas State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse is also required, along with certification from a national certifying body with prescriptive privileges.
