About the role

Under general supervision, this role involves inspecting the surface condition of castings using specialized equipment and a liquid Penetrant, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects castings for defects using predetermined inspection methods approved by Quality Assurance.
  • Maintains documentation, tooling, and parts to match paperwork accurately.
  • Ensures castings are defect-free and conform to production guidelines and customer requirements.
  • Performs penetrant inspection functions following established NDT inspection methods.
  • Logs on main computer system, extracts information, logs time, enters inventory amounts, and forwards to the next operation.
  • Handles tote boxes and castings weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Passes a current visual acuity test and demonstrates understanding of QCP 7.2 and ATM-E 1417.
  • Follows established washing techniques, temperature, distance, angle, and time per QCP 7.2.
  • Changes penetrant oil and demonstrates ability to follow technique cards.
  • Processes castings smoothly through racking, dipping, washing, drying, and developing.
  • Accepts castings and processes them according to Level II personnel responsibilities.
  • Trains personnel of lower levels as needed.
  • Completes or is in the process of completing required "procedure" training.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Qualifications

  • Must pass a current visual acuity test and annually thereafter.
  • Must pass the Level I Penetrant Test with a score of 80% or better on all portions.
  • Must pass the Gage R & R Test with a score of 90% or better and have no more than 10% deviation.
  • Must have completed or be in the process of completing required "procedure" training.
