NDT Level 2

About the role

The Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician conducts various non-destructive testing methods to assess the integrity and properties of materials, components, or systems without causing damage. This role ensures products meet industry standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-destructive tests on materials, parts, or products to detect defects and ensure quality and safety.
• Use specialized inspection methods for magnetic particle testing (MT) and liquid penetrant testing (PT).
• Interpret and evaluate test results according to applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
• Record test results and create detailed inspection reports, documenting any defects or anomalies found.
• Set up and calibrate testing equipment according to specific standards and procedures.
• Ensure all testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated regularly.
• Maintain and troubleshoot NDT equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and maintenance activities.
• Work closely with engineers, quality control personnel, and other team members to communicate testing results effectively.
• Provide recommendations based on test findings to improve product quality and safety.
• Develop technique sheets in the Magnetic Particle and Fluorescent Penetrant Methods from approved procedures (final approval by a Level 3 required).
• Participate in annual internal audits for the Fluorescent Magnetic Particle Inspection and Penetrant Processes.
• Conduct annual performance reviews for other internal certified NDT personnel for the Magnetic Particle Inspection and Penetrant Inspection Process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate/bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Practical understanding and proficiency in engineering and drawing interpretation.
• Ability to accurately and efficiently generate instructions and reports.
• Meet visual requirements: 20/25 at 16” or Jaeger No1 at not less than 12” in at least one eye, and capable of distinguishing and differentiating colors used in the process.
• NAS410 certification (Certification & Qualification of Nondestructive Personnel), including training, experience, and examinations prior to certification.
• Level 2 requirements:
  • Two years of engineering or science study at an accredited school, college, or university, and/or
  • Two or more years of work experience in a manufacturing environment, and/or
  • Documentation of previous experience as an NDT Technician with a prior employer.
