NDT Technician Level 2

About the role

This role will be either 1st or 2nd shift depending on availability. The NDT Technician works with assistance and direction to perform in-process and completed inspections of products such as machine parts, mechanical assemblies, purchased standard hardware, and applied protective coatings, including verification of thermal process (heat treat and eddy current inspections).

Responsibilities

• Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment
• Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection
• Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
• Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results
• Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters, and visual indicators
• Organize and report test results
• Perform specialized inspections
• May instruct and supervise others
• Use various measuring devices to perform required inspections and accept or reject malfunctioning or non-conforming units or systems
• Work from blueprints, digital models, diagrams, or other customer specifications, and use inspection instructions and checklists
• May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management

Requirements

• ASNT Certified Level 2 NDT Penetrant Technician
• Good knowledge and understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) methods per ASME 14.5
• Good knowledge of common inspection measuring equipment including, but not limited to, surface plates, micrometers, height gauges, radius gauges, protractors, profilometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and Coordinate Measuring Machines/Scanners
• Basic PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Ability to use Syteline or other ERP systems
• Blueprint reading and basic math skills
• Good manual dexterity
• Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others
• Attention to detail
• Basic English language skills and the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions
• Willingness to learn

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years with recent aircraft machine shop experience
