NCIS Network Engineer | Shift Work | Active TS/SCI clearance

About the role
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of approximately 2,000 personnel, with 700 serving at HQ and the remaining staff at offices worldwide. NCIS is the Department of the Navy (DON) component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter-terrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. As a Network Engineer with GDIT, you will support the IT Technology Development division within the NCIS ITD organization in Quantico, VA, providing impactful technical support and troubleshooting for critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for incoming service incidents related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
- Perform end-user software and hardware troubleshooting, applying diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes, and implement or recommend solutions.
- Identify recurring issues and notify management of patterns.
- Test and analyze all elements of network facilities.
- Provide technical assistance, address customer queries, and ensure a seamless customer experience by assessing and troubleshooting issues related to company products/services.
- Monitor and control the performance and status of network resources on multiple enclaves using software and hardware tools.
- Identify and diagnose problems and factors affecting network performance.
- Analyze network performance, usage, traffic flows, access, and interfaces.
- Provide technical planning and analysis for communication activities, including designing, integrating, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, monitoring, reporting, documenting, and working with vendors.
- Perform testing, provisioning, operations, and emergency response for ongoing network operations.
- Oversee and manage the deployment of upgrades to existing data, video, and related systems in a multi-location environment.
- Ensure all required operational and support documents are current.
- Maintain a current understanding of emerging technologies and trends in online media, cloud services, storage solutions, and other data center technologies.
Requirements
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- 8+ years of network experience, with 3 years of specialized networking experience.
- Experience with engineering data center and IP backbone networks in a multi-vendor, multiprotocol environment (T1, DS3, Fiber/Optical, DSL, Ethernet, and Ethernet over Copper core).
- Experience with protocols: BGP, OSPF, vDC, vPC, VRF’s, Spanning-Tree, VLANs, 802.1q, QoS, Cisco ASA with Active/Active Multiple Contexts.
- Firewall experience: Cisco ASA 5500X, Juniper SRX, Forcepoint SWE.
- Expert-level configuration of Cisco routers and switches: 4500/6500, 3750, 3850, ASR 1000, Nexus 2K/5K/7K/9K.
- Data center experience.
- Experience with configuration and management of firewalls: Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto, Forcepoint Sidewinder, and Juniper.
- Familiarity with NTP, MAB, and F5 deployment.
- Experience with Network Management Apps: Cisco ACS/ISE, Cisco Prime, SolarWinds.
- Required certifications: Security+ CE, CCNP or CISSP.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a technical discipline.
Schedule
A two-week rotation where teams alternate between four weeknight 10-hour night shifts and weekend 12-hour day/night coverage for a 40-hour workweek.
Pay
The likely salary range for this position is $111,155 - $150,385.
