NC/CNC Machine Set-Up & Operate - 1st Shift
Location: Syracuse, New York, United States | Full-Time | 1st Shift (6:30 AM – 2:30 PM)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced NC/CNC Machine Set-Up & Operator for the 1st shift. The successful candidate will set up and operate a variety of machine shop equipment, perform machining operations, work with different metals, and produce components to required specifications and tolerances.
Responsibilities
- Plan and perform a wide variety of machine setups and machining operations.
- Set up and operate equipment including:
- Engine lathes
- Vertical turret lathes
- Radial drill presses
- Spindle drill presses
- Shapers
- Surface grinders
- Horizontal and vertical milling machines
- Select appropriate machine attachments, cutting tools, feeds, and speeds based on material and finish requirements.
- Square up and lay out production runs and special castings for machining operations.
- Machine components to close and fairly close tolerances.
- Work with a variety of metals, including steel, iron, brass, bronze, and aluminum.
- Layout, machine, fit, and assemble jigs and fixtures.
- Determine machining operation sequences.
- Perform computations involving dividing heads, angles, tapers, fits, and assemblies.
- Inspect parts for adequate finish allowance, defective material, and faulty operations.
- Maintain machines, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Follow 5S processes and applicable workplace safety requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in NC/CNC machine setup and operation.
- Hands-on experience with machine shop equipment and machining operations.
- Ability to work with various metals and machining materials.
- Ability to read and work to close tolerances.
- Knowledge of tooling, feeds, speeds, setups, and machining processes.
Work Location
No relocation assistance is available. Only candidates currently residing within a 50-mile radius of Syracuse, NY will be considered. Exception: Active-duty military service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Technical/vocational training in Machining, CNC, Tool & Die, Manufacturing, or Machine Technology is an advantage but not required.
