Troubleshooting and Maintenance

  • Troubleshoots, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems, switches, switch gear, distribution panels, outlet boxes, circuits, and wide variety of electrical fixtures, motors, and electrically operated equipment.
  • Fulfills maintenance schedule and inspections or work orders, performing maintenance services, diagnosing system or equipment malfunctions, and repairing as necessary.
  • Inspects, maintains, cleans, repairs, tests, and adjusts electrical buzzer and bell circuits, light sockets, lighting fixtures, fans, switches, office and heating drills, grinders, and shop equipment.
  • Tests circuits and equipment using voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, megger, and ohmmeter.
  • Measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles, and installs conduits, inserting splices, and connecting wires to fixtures, outlets, switches, receptacles, and power sources.

Installation and Repair

  • Installs and repairs industrial and domestic reach-in and walk-in refrigerators, split HVAC systems, walk-in refrigeration units, pre-fabricated boxes, cold storage and cold room equipment, freezers, water coolers, dehumidifiers, air conditioning units, and related equipment.
  • Performs carpentry tasks, measuring and cutting materials to required lengths and dimensions, installing structural and trim items by nailing, bolting, morticing, doweling, gluing, sanding, and finishing completed work.
  • Maintains, repairs, or constructs a variety of structures and surfaces made from brick, block, stone, and other related materials.
  • Paints interiors and exteriors of buildings, shelves, counters, cabinets, and similar items.
  • Uses a variety of common and specialized hand and power tools.

Physical Effort and Conditions

  • Required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Frequently lifts and carries materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Works inside and outside, exposed to dust, dirt, and soiling of hands and clothing.
  • Exposed to cuts and bruises.

Experience and Education

  • One year of experience that provided knowledge of general building maintenance and repair tasks.
  • One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.
  • Five years of experience performing a wide variety of building and equipment maintenance and repair, including building construction, alterations, planning work using drawings, sketches, blueprints, etc., troubleshooting, installing, repairing electrical systems, distribution panels, outlet boxes, motors, and electrically operated equipment, HVAC systems, walk-in refrigeration units, etc.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Frequently lifts and carries materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

  • Exposed to dust, dirt, and soiling of hands and clothing.
  • Exposed to cuts and bruises.

Pay and Schedule

Part-time (20 - 34.5 hours)
