Duties And Responsibilities
- Offer subject matter expertise to shipboard personnel, assisting the CEMAT electrical habitability project team with engineering and technical support.
- Deliver over-the-shoulder and on-the-job (OJT) training to the ship’s force Sailors as needed.
- Guide materials, maintenance, and training to ships' crews for shipboard equipment and systems on CVN aircraft carriers.
- Electrical troubleshooting, use of multimeters, megohmmeters, and network testers.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
- Provide maintenance and repairs of shipboard electrical equipment on U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers, including shipboard motors and motor controllers.
Required Qualifications
- 4 years’ experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of naval or marine propulsion hull, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Documented electrical technical knowledge and expertise in Navy Shipboard electrical systems and equipment.
- U.S. Navy surface ships or aircraft carriers experience required.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, or other mechanical technical data about the construction and operation of naval hull, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
- Able to work aboard ships in a shipyard environment under industrial conditions.
- Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
- Two (2) years’ experience in a position of team leader or supervisor of subordinate work groups is desired.
Preferred
- An associate degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to two (2) years of technician experience.
ADA Notations
- Requires respirator qualification, including completion of a physical and fit test.
- Requires the ability to work, walk, reach, sit, and maintain concentration in a noisy environment.
- Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight.
- Noise conditions range from very quiet to loud.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, earplugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
