Natural Resources Field Technician
Responsibilities
Conduct field assessments of local ecology in utility Right-of-Way corridors.
- Species identification and documentation
- Water/soil sample collection
- Using mapping tools such as GPS and ArcGIS
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- 3-5 years' experience in conducting non-lethal butterfly surveys in the San Joaquin Valley of California
- College degree in ecology, biology, natural resources, environmental science, or a related field
- OR 3-5 years experience in conducting non-lethal butterfly surveys in the San Joaquin Valley of California
- 2+ years of relevant ecological field experience in lieu of a degree
- Must be physically able and willing to work outdoors in all weather and terrain
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to work independently or in a small team in remote locations
- Effective communication and documentation skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable operating vehicles (4x4, ATVs)
- Experience identifying local flora and fauna
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience conducting biological field surveys
- Familiarity with botany, plant identification, or invertebrates
- Familiarity with ArcGIS (Field Maps, Survey123) or GPS-based data collection
- Experience with environmental field equipment (e.g., camera traps, range finders, acoustic sampling equipment)
- Exposure to regulatory compliance and reporting under environmental laws
- Previous work with utility companies, government agencies, or private ecological firms
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules and work within a wide geographic region

Pay
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Pacific salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to customer contact terms, location, experience, and performance. Other rewards may include Paid Time Off, 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match, ESOP contributions, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and other region-specific benefits as eligible.
