About the role
The Environmental Planning and Compliance Practice at David Evans and Associates, Inc., seeks a Natural Resources Biologist to join our dynamic team in Bellevue, WA.
Responsibilities
- Environmental Compliance:
- Conduct wetland delineations and other environmental/habitat surveys
- Aid in the development of: Environmental permit applications, including JARPA, HPA, SEPA, and NEPA compliance documentation
- Create critical areas reports, wetland delineation reports, and functional assessments
- Create mitigation and monitoring plans
- Write sensitive species survey reports and biological assessments
- Prepare other natural resource documents
- Conduct desktop studies to identify environmental resources and impacts
- Perform water quality monitoring
- Monitor mitigation sites
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with regulatory agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders
- Communicate project details and environmental compliance to relevant parties
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or related field
- Experience: 1+ years in environmental science, permitting, and compliance
- Desired Skills: Highly organized and self-motivated, excellent technical writing skills, strong attention to detail, experience with Microsoft Office Suite, experience conducting field surveys and documenting natural resources, experience with water quality monitoring and equipment, knowledge of and experience with Pacific Northwest plants, fish, and wildlife, direct experience with environmental documentation in eelgrass habitats, knowledge of and experience with GIS (ArcPro and ArcMap) and GPS data collection, enthusiasm in providing high-quality data and work products, ability to work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment
- Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years in environmental planning, permitting, and compliance, advanced degree can be used as a substitute for relevant experience based on major and subjects studied, knowledge of, and experience with state and federal environmental regulations and guidance, such as the CWA, ESA, NEPA, and SEPA, experience preparing NEPA and SEPA documents, technical reports, wetland delineations, and mitigation requirements, experience preparing permit environmental applications for water, transportation, development, and/or energy projects, Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) certification, or willingness to become certified
