About the role

Subject matter expertise to update and execute the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan for management of Natural Resources on Space Launch Delta 45 (SLD 45) Properties. Ensures compliance with all laws related to Natural Resources and status species management.

Responsibilities

  • Project management, agency consultation, and preparation of natural resource surveys and reports.
  • Manage natural and cultural resource maps for SLD 45 to support conservation, planning, and mitigation.
  • Inspect and evaluate reliability, flexibility, and maintainability of existing environmental equipment and systems.
  • Research, gather information, and prepare PPBS documentation in support of assigned programs.
  • Develop and present briefing packages and prepare related reports.
  • Support quality improvement and promote environmental awareness.
  • Conduct fieldwork in extreme terrain and environmental conditions, if required.
  • Work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Participate in public meetings, education programs, and technical committees.
  • Support the Emergency Response Force during exercises or in the event of an actual emergency.
  • Conduct wildlife capture and relocation.
  • Obtain job-related certifications as required.

Requirements

  • 8 years of natural resource experience in the Southeast, with a strong preference for Florida coastal experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or environmental sciences.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Endangered Species Act and proven Southeast regional experience across all phases of natural resource fieldwork.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Strong skills in ArcGIS, including current, working knowledge of SDSFIE standards.
  • Experience with R software for wildlife data analysis is preferred.
  • Strong technical writing, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of professional environmental principles, practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot problems requiring investigation of natural resources conditions.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and foreign laws, regulations, and other guidance.
  • Ability to integrate an interdisciplinary team of professionals.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork in extreme terrain and environmental conditions, if required.

Desired Skills

  • Master’s degree in Biology, Ecology, or Environmental Sciences.
