About the role
This position supports electric generation sites centered around McDonough, GA, with locations near Newnan, GA and Carrollton, GA. The Natural Gas Specialist inspects, supports, and maintains gas facilities at these sites.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and tune pneumatic & electric pressure control systems
- Rebuild internal parts in pressure control equipment, such as globe valves, ball valves, and unloading valves
- Complete work reports in a GIS-based work management system
- Monitor and proactively address solutions to reduce natural gas outages and minimize outage lengths
- Perform “odorant concentration tests” to ensure proper odorant density within pipeline systems
- Navigate pipeline right-of-ways for leak surveys and patrols
- Change elements in coalescing filters during plant outages
- Communicate with power plant customers to schedule materials and maintenance
- Occasionally perform cathodic protection readings
- Perform occasional communication tasks with power plant customers
- May perform lone work occasionally
- Subject to PHMSA Part 199 and FMCSA drug and alcohol programs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Pneumatic pressure control experience preferred
- Natural gas facilities maintenance experience required
- Strong written and oral communications and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of computer programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of pressure control technologies and industry best practices
- Understanding of CFR 192 requirements for pipeline compliance
- Understanding of measurement system, operating software, and administration
- Understanding of communications / systems networking
- Understanding of cathodic protection systems
