Natural Gas Decompression Technician

About the role

This position oversees the day-to-day operations and maintenance of natural gas treating and processing equipment, including refrigeration, decompression, and dehydration systems. Equipment includes mobile refrigeration units, reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, gas measurement devices, and more.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment within specified operating ranges, inspect equipment periodically, and perform minor maintenance.
• Develop a working knowledge of fleet equipment and troubleshoot issues efficiently.
• Read, monitor, and record various operating conditions such as pressure, temperature, hours of operation, fuel consumption, water levels, etc.
• De-pressure equipment and calculate, design, and ensure proper flows, temperatures, and pressure levels.
• Moderately use hand tools to work with and repair mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Must possess the ability to self-supervise on daily tasks and metrics.
• Work independently and as part of a team, be available by phone during scheduled rotations, and operate a company vehicle safely.
• Oversee safety and environmental requirements while operating equipment, assist with incident response and investigations, and ensure on-time completion of all assigned training.
• Promote ethical behavior and maintain a clean driving record.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of related experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
• High School diploma or equivalent, skilled labor certificate.
• Willingness to work in extreme temperatures, wind, precipitation, and at heights.
• Able to lift 25 pounds up to 10 times per shift.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Mechanically inclined.
• Ability to understand simple electronics and electrical equipment is beneficial.

Skills

• Working with CNG PRS systems or similar high compression systems with swagelok valves/regulators.
• Basic electrical safety training.
• Flash Arc Training.
