NATO Sea Sparrow Missile System (NSSMS)/Ship’s Self-Defense System (SSDS) and Defensive Weapons Coordinator (DWC) Trainer

Responsibilities
- Conduct traditional classroom instruction and support tactical shipboard training for NATO Sea Sparrow Missile System (NSSMS) and Ship’s Self-Defense System (SSDS) operators.
- Train on the tactical employment of the NSSMS/SSDS systems, including system capabilities and limitations, employment of automated systems, mission planning and execution, and tactical communications.
- Provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for SCSTC courses supporting the operational employment of the Ship’s Self Defense System.
- Use SSDS-specific simulation software, tools, and procedures to review and analyze U.S. Navy SSDS capabilities and limitations with reference to current U.S. Navy operational and tactical guidance.
- Conceptualize and integrate the employment of self-defense systems using engagement doctrine within each SSDS Combat Systems' abilities in a dynamic operational tactical environment.
Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.
- Five (5) years of experience with the required system (NSSMS/SSDS) as system maintenance technician or supervisor with responsibility for teaching the applicable system or function task to others in a journeyman level training environment.
- One (1) year experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction, and counseling students on academic learning problems.
- Experience with SSDS training systems [e.g. Battle Force Tactical Training (BFTT), SSDS Training Stimulator Simulator System (TSSS), and Afloat Training Domain (ATD)] is a significant plus.
- Experience as a Rolling Airframe Missile System (RAM) handling team leader is a significant plus.
Qualifications
Required:
- V31A NATO Sea Sparrow Surface Missile System (NSSMS) MK 57 Mods 10 and above.
- 805A Instructor.
- Master/Afloat Training Specialist (MTS/ATS) qualification preferred.

- Advanced knowledge of SSDS-specific simulation software, tools, and procedures.

- Ability to support multi-shift work as required.
- Physical condition to support embarkation on U.S. Navy ship underway.

Pay
The likely salary range for this position is $80,750 - $109,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
